Pathway for training nurses currently abroad

If you are an NHS Trust or other healthcare body recruiting from abroad then our OET International Pathway is a great way to bring your recruits up to speed and into the UK without the need for providing all the upfront infrastructure and expense that goes with a hiring a new employee.

Your recruits are assessed and trained whilst still in their own countries and only when you are satisfied with their ability to fit in with your organisation will they come to the UK. At that point we will take care of their study for the OET exams. As the employer you are always in control, with three break points at which you can make an informed decision about whether to continue with a particular candidate or not.

From your trainees' point of view, being trained outside the working environment at times to suit them means they can focus entirely on getting through the OET exam quickly and with minimum disruption to their lives by having to juggle shift work with study.

1 - Benchmarking Assessment

  • Hospital recruits the nurse and passes the details on to Worcester Medical
  • Nurse takes online Nursemark OET level assessment
  • Worcester Medical feed back results to hospital with recommendation on likely training required
  • Hospital can make informed decision on viability of continuing with candidate (1st break)

2 - Online Preparation In-Country

  • Nurse enrolled on online programme with introductory Zoom / Skype session
  • First study block followed by personal Zoom / Skype tutorial
  • Second study block followed by personal Zoom / Skype tutorial
  • Final study block followed by OET mock test marked by Worcester Medical teacher
  • Worcester Medical feed back candidate performance to hospital
  • Hospital can make informed decision on viability of continuing with candidate (2nd break)

3 - Online Preparation in the UK

  • Nurse enrolled on 8-week OET online preparation course after arrival in UK
  • Working shifts as HCA for the Hospital whilst studying
  • 10 hours/week of study outside work times
  • OET mock exam / assessment included after initial training course
  • Worcester Medical feed back candidate performance to hospital
  • Hospital can make informed decision on viability of continuing with candidate (3rd break)

4 - OET Exam and Follow on Support

  • Nurse entered for OET exam via OET website (www.oet.com)
  • Nurse shares results with hospital and with Worcester Medical
  • If required follow on support discussed and agreed between nurse, hospital and Worcester Medical
  • Worcester Medical provide on-going support / exam entry as required to achieve successful conclusion
